County Commissioner Amos Mariba and his team have been castigated for snubbing Deputy President William Ruto's function in Nyamira on Friday.
Dr Ruto, who visited the region for the first time since 2017, was received by a host of local leaders who accompanied him to four functions across the county.
Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose led the onslaught against the provincial administration team, accusing them of being used to sabotage Ruto's ambitions.
"They have ran away but no matter their ill intentions, nobody shall stop the DP from succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta. They disappeared because some people are using them," he said.
West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi was even clearer, maintaining that the DP does not need the good will from the administrators to win the seat.
"Let them handle security aspect. Whether they show up or not, it's non of our worries. We shall meet them in ballot and people shall decide," he said.
Curiously, Dr Ruto who has confronted Interior PS Karanja Kibicho before over the matter, did not comment on the absence of the Provincial Administration team.
Also absent from the event were Governor John Nyagarama and Senator Okong'o Mogeni. The two are close allies of ODM leader Raila Odinga.
