Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa has come out to explain why she interrupted Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna's speech.
On Friday during the burial of Mombasa Deputy Governor William Kingi's father Edward Benjamin Kingi, Jumwa interrupted Sifuna's speech before she embarrassed him by snatching a microphone from his hand.
The vocal MP has explained why she had to take the measures that left Sifuna embarrassed with nothing to do.
Speaking on Sunday during a church service at Kakoneni Ministries Sifa Church, Jilore Ward, Jumwa said that the deceased family had asked mourners to avoid politicizing the burial ceremony.
"It was a word from the family, I stood there before the function started and told them, am a politician and a good speaker, but today am not preaching politics because the family has asked me to avoid the topic. Who are you to stand up and start speaking ODM politics here, no way," she said.
The lawmaker went further to state that Sifuna disrespected her in her own home, something she could not do in Western or Nyanza.
"Our people are suffering for lack of wisdom. It is something Aisha Jumwa cannot do when in Nyanza, then how can someone from Nyanza come here and abuse me?" Jumwa posed.
The MP who is fighting expulsion from ODM for supporting Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid further said she is ready to fight for the Mijikenda people until her last breath.
