Joseph Irungu, a fiance to TV anchor Jacque Maribe, asked for paraffin to burn clothes in night on the similar day Monica Kimani was reported dead, reports the Standard.
Mr. Irungu and Maribe will be charged for murder of Ms. Kimani, who was buried a fortnight ago at Gilgil.
And in a statement to the police, Mr. Brian Kassaine, their neighbour at Royal Park Estate, says that he was woken up from deep sleep by Irungu on the material day after a loud bang on the door.
Moments later, says his statement, he opened the door and found a bleeding Irungu. Upon questioning him, he adds, Irungu is said to have asked him to collect his pistol from Maribe's house.
Mr. Irungu also claimed that Maribe had thrown him house of the house with clothes all together. The couple are said the have always had wrangles throughout their stay.
Later, adds the report, Irungu asked for paraffin to burn clothes but Kassaine did not have any in his house.
Prompted by the negative answer, Irungu allegedly rushed to Maribe's house and used air freshener to burn the cloths.
Police believe that the cloths were those Irungu put on at the time Monica was killed at her Kilimani apartments.
Mr. Kassaine, who was accused of using unlicensed gun, has since convinced police to turn him to state witness, a move that could throw the couple into a limbo.
On Monday, both Maribe and Irungu will be charged for murdering Ms. Kimani, a business woman who operates in South Sudan.
