Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has said that he will ask Deputy President William Ruto to go for the post of the Prime Minister if that is the only way to counter Africa Union’s High Representation of Infrastructure Development Raila Amolo Odinga in 2022.

Speaking on Sunday at AIC Kimoson Church during a fundraiser,  Barasa said that Raila, who has since vowed to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta, is not the only leaders who can take up the position.

He said that leaders allied to Ruto are likely to advise the second in command to change his tune and go for the PM's position to frustrate Raila.

“If he has hopes of the premier position in the next government, we will also advise Ruto to stop his presidential bid and opt for the same seat. No one says that Raila should be the ultimate person for the prime minister post,” he said, as Standard quoted.

Ruto has been opposing the creation of the post of the PM. During his speech at Chatham House in London, United Kingdom, Ruto said that the creation of the post is a waste of time.

He argued that a change in the constitution to create more posts will not solve the problems facing this nation.

He also insisted that the problem Kenya has been facing is leaders who are not ready to accept the outcome of elections in an apparent reference to Raila, who is considered a thorn in his flesh.
