A rejuvenated Deputy President William Ruto has asked Nyamira leaders who have been critics of opposition leader Raila Odinga to change their mind for the prosperity of the region.
On Saturday in Kemera ward, Ruto said all leaders should join hands for the sake of development, adding that he is ready to work with Baba (Raila Odinga) as well.
"However, God’s plans are many. As you can see, 'Baba' has joined our fold and we are working together for the greater good of the country. I am ready to work with him and all leaders across the political divide to unite the country and foster development,” he said at Kemera.
He added: “President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mr Odinga have decided to bury the hatchet and work together. That is why I am visiting all parts of the country, including Nyamira, to spread development."
It was the second time Mr Ruto was touring Nyamira, a region considered as Raila's home turf in the last decade.
Ruto said the government will not abandon regions perceived to be opposition stronghold, adding that MPs both from NASA and Jubilee regions should now consider coming together.
On his relationship with Odinga, Ruto said their 'little misunderstanding' was orchastrated by ideological differences.
"I can assure his supporters here that we are working together. If we can work together, why not you? Let's change our mentality," he added when commissioning Kemera-Kiendege-Gachuba-Girango-Keumbu road.
