Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria received a tongue lashing from the head of state on Thursday during a closed-door meeting in Nyeri.
President Uhuru Kenyatta was meeting a section of Mt Kenya MPs at the central regional commissioner’s residence.
At the meeting, Uhuru is said to have earmarked Moses Kuria for a dressing down.
The president was reportedly angry at the legislator over his dalliance with the media.
“Hiyo mambo yako ya kushinda kwa matv uwache, hakuna mtu inasaidia. Ama unafikiria kuongea kwa tv itafanya upigiwe kura,” Uhuru is said to have shot at Kuria.
An MP who attended the meeting said they were shocked because the President ‘came in bad mood’.
“He was angry from the word go. He dismissed everyone,” the MP said.
The source said another MP who tried to cunningly ask the President about his succession plan received a blunt response as a bluff.
The MPs just gave the President their demands.
“He was presented with each constituency’s demands. Each MP had prepared the needs of his area. But the President said the documents were too bulky and he could not reply to each. He said he would look at them and communicate,” an MP said.
