Instead, they want the president to reciprocate support given by the community courtesy of Ruto both in 2013 and 2017 polls.

Led by Maj. John Seii on Thursday insisted that Uhuru should show gentleman attitude by backing his deputy who is under pressure to take over.

“In 2013, Myoot elders agreed to support Uhuru Kenyatta and, in return, he should back Mr Ruto when it comes to his quest for the presidency," he said.

He added: " We believe that Ruto deserved support and respect. It is time the president comes out open."

Lately, a section of politicians from Mt. Kenya have openly ruled out chances of supporting Ruto in 2022.

In fact, Kikuyu elders are also on record for pushing for Ruto's retirement on grounds that he was elected along with Uhuru.

The smooth relationship between Raila Odinga and Uhuru has further irked Ruto's camp.
