Matiang'i said harassment of Kenyan fishermen by Ugandans must stop failure to which the Kenyan forces will counter.

"I don't want to hear any fisherman from Kenya being harassed at Lake Victoria by security officers from the neighbouring country. Ugandan police officers should respect us the same way we have been respecting fishermen from Uganda," he said.

The CS pleaded with Kenyan fishermen to report any harassment while fishing at Lake Victoria to local authorities for legal action to be taken.

According to Matiang'i, Uganda is in good trade relations with Kenya and therefore, Ugandan security officers should stop unnecessary arresting Kenyan fishermen.

"Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni had maintained a good trade relation with our country. His officers should, therefore, stop harassing our people at Lake Victoria and the border," he noted.

Matiang'i reiterated that Kenyans security officers are committed to boosting security at the borders to ensure no contraband products are sneaked into the country for selling.

He was speaking on Tuesday during an interview with NTV.
