Speaking at the Wajir County Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) hall in Wajir town during a youth forum on Saturday, Mr Kabreta said he has not done much for his constituents since his election into office.

Mr Kabreta said he will focus his energy on setting out plans and systems to improve service delivery and ending corruption in the county.

This is after millions of shillings have allegedly been lost due to corruption and the county government being marred by claims of corruption and nepotism in its first year in office.

The senator confessed that he was held up by other issues since he was involved in court cases challenging his election in last year’s general elections.

The matter has however been resolved out of court and Dr Kabreta has assured residents in the county that he will embark on delivering on his promises.

“I want to apologise to you. I know I have not been performing my duties as per my mandate. I was busy with other issues but now I will be more active in my oversight role as from now.”

“My mission is to watchdog the county funds from officials with an appetite for looting,” said Senator Kabreta.

The event was attended by Wajir East MP, Rashid Kassim and his counterparts, Ahmed Abdisalan of Wajir North and Ahmed Bashane of Tarbaj.
