Following the fracas that saw rowdy youths attack public toilet operators at Acrra Road in Nairobi, the Nairobi county government has released a statement absolving itself from the scheme.
According to Environment CeC Larry Wambua, the chaos will now be treated by the county as an insecurity matter to be handled by police.
‘‘We have given them the licence to run those toilets. Anything happening beyond that we are not aware of and we are not involved. Let the police handle it,’’ Wambua said.
He however revealed that the county is in a process of finding a new contractor to handle the sector.
‘‘Soon we hiring a contractor who will clean these toilets and manage them so that we can end this fight by the cartels over public toilets,’’ he added.
