A section of residents from Nyamasaria and Kondele areas in Kisumu have expressed their delight ahead of President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto and ODM party leader Raila Odinga's visit of the county.
The residents have already gathered at the Nyamasaria by-pass and Kondele roundabout to wait for the leaders.
The leaders are expected to pass through Nyamasaria and Kondele on their way to the Mamboleo Show Ground for the official launch of the pilot phase of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program.
“I am very happy that the two leaders are coming here. Most of us have never seen the President since he was elected in 2013 and re-elected last year. I am glad we will see him today. I personally voted for him during the August 8th 2017 general elections,” said Vitalis Ogendo who is the Chairman, Nyamasaria Market Traders Association.
“We are waiting for his Excellency the President. We are very happy,” said Wycliffe Donde, a town service matatu operator based at Kondele.
The president, his deputy, and the former prime minister will also lead a brief function to officially launch the Ken Obura Secondary School in Migosi Estate.
The school was built courtesy of former Kisumu Central Member of Parliament (MP) Ken Obura.
Deputy President William Ruto has already arrived in Kisumu.
