According to a local daily, the deceased is said to be a former employee of a flower farm in Plateau area and is suspected to have drunk in excess of more than he manages, ending up into the Naiberi dustbin.

Confirming the incident, Eldoret East Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Richard Omanga stated that the deceased died after heavy alcohol drinking during the Christmas festivities.

The body is currently lying at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) mortuary in Eldoret town.

“At the site, the man fell with his head first inside the bin, a clear indication that he might have choked and due to the position he fell. He also vomited due to the alcohol content. There were no injuries and that is why we are not suspecting any foul play,” Omanga was quoted by the Standard.

The OCPD further cautioned residents against overindulgence in alcoholism to avert more deaths during the busy festive season.
