Franklin Ng’etich, a Form Two student of Tumaini Secondary School in Barut, will remain in police custody for three more days after chief inspector Javan Onzere filed an application before court to be given more time for investigations.

In the application, inspector Onzere asked the court to detain the accused to allow police finish investigations on the murder of the 35-year-old teacher, Peter Omare Mogusu, a Physics and Computer studies teacher at Hopewell Secondary School.

Mogusu was attacked on January 24, 2019, about 100 metres from the school while on his way to his house.

The teacher, who suffered multiple head injuries and a cracked skull, had confiscated a phone from some of the students in school.

Mogusu was pronounced dead on arrival at the Nakuru Level Five Hospital where he was rushed following the incident.

Two students from the school, and another from a neighboring school, were last week arrested over the murder.

Nakuru Resident Magistrate Yvonne Khatambi granted the application and ruled that the 18-year-old student be held at Nakuru Central Police Station.

The case will be heard on February 1.
