President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga are on Monday, January 7, expected to grace the ground breaking ceremony of Mama Ngina Drive regeneration project.
The public facility which borders the Indian Ocean at the Likoni Ferry Channel, is set to be facelifted at a cost of Sh1 billion.
Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala said the National government alongside his Ministry had allocated Sh400 million for the first phase of upgrading the project.

Hosted by Governor Ali Hassan Joho, Kenyatta and Odinga will be joined by leaders from the port County and across the neighbouring coastal counties.
"The project which is being done by the National Government through the Ministry of Tourism in conjunction with the County Government of Mombasa will transform Mama Ngina Drive into a water park that will revamp the tourism sector as well as create employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for the local and youths," read a public notice to Mombasa residents on Saturday, January 5.
Odinga who landed in Mombasa from Namibia, on Saturday met Kilifi Members of County Assembly at his Nyali residence led by Kilifi County Assembly Speaker Teddy Mwambire.
