Eldoret residents have reacted in shock and disbelief after it emerged that a husband mercilessly battered his wife over what is reported to be as a result of her failing to serve food in time.
The husband, Naftali Luzuli inflicted serious facial injuries to the wife Vallery Mwendu Mosibo on Friday at Kipkaren estate in Eldoret town.
Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago posted a disheartening photo of the wife on his official Facebook page while at the same time condemning the act.
Here is what Eldoret residents said of the incidence;
"A beating of this extent must av been provoked by a nasty mistake, I believe that no upright man can do such a beastly act to a woman unless he was provoked beyond his control. Look for the reason as to why this happened before sending the man to gallow," said Bill Feisal.
"Ghai, God forbid I never knew it was a true picture...sorry to her and may God heal her, I hope the courts will hand him a 20 years term imprisonment. It's a barbaric act," said another Facebook user Hon Koech.
"Very very sad if they had issues they could try to solve beating is not a solution. God have mercy on women that is too much," Veronica Nyarangi noted.
"Very shocking information to hear...hope the concerned authority should act immediately and stern measures taken accordingly to the culprit...Justice MUST prevail," noted Nicodemus Kemboi.
"I think the highest and better penalty for a man if the wife has done a big mistake that you can't accept forever, is just to seek divorce peacefully instead of beating her like this," Bruce Kips said.
"Dalili ya mvua ni mawingu when you hear him talking rudely just walk away silently to your parents than assuming and saying that's obvious to him you can't know today my friend mbele kuzuri and better to remain single marriage is not by force," said Tendervilova Wysher.
The husband has already been arrested and is due in court Monday to face assault charges.
