Three people have been confirmed dead and five others seriously injured in a road accident that occurred at a market center called Nangili along the Eldoret-Kitale road.
The head-on collision between a private seven-seater van which was headed for Eldoret and a mini-bus which was destined for Kitale left the area residents in shock and disbelief.
It is reported that the driver of the van, which was transporting a flock of sheep, was dodging another sheep that was crossing the road when he rammed into the mini-bus.
Further reports indicate that those who died are both drivers and one passenger from the van.
"Several people have been injured and others are dead, though we cannot tell how many. (Watu kadhaa wamepata majeruhi, na wengine wamefariki, na hao hatuwezi sema ni wangapi)," an eye witness said.
Some of the area residents called upon The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to deploy its officers on the road, citing that some of the drivers were not yet licensed to operate.
"NTSA should come on this road and help us. They should look for those who do not have licenses. There are drivers who are operating on the road without the license. Those are the ones who are causing all these problems.
