The Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Nordin Haji intervened into the matter after the workers vowed not to return to work even after the strike was declared unlawful.

The workers brought business to a standstill for several hours after refusing to report to their respective work stations.

Thousands of passengers were stranded following the standoff.

An agreement between the parties shows that Haji has agreed to withdraw criminal charges that had been leveled against officials of the union.

The officers who had been arrested in regard to the strike include Nicholus Barasa, Martha Wangeci Warui, Maxwell Chopdekar Osaka, Selina Awala, Richard Bwabuz Mitei, Robert Lichoro, Charles Mwangi Mwaura, Dan Kataka Musa and Joyrender Achieng Ochieng.

The workers are now expected to resume work with immediate effect following the agreement.

“KAWU and its members shall promptly cooperate with all employers to ensure normalisation of operations at JKIA,” he said

The statement also indicates that there will be no form of victimisation for the workers after they report back to their respective job stations.
