President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday met governors ahead of the sixth annual devolution Conference.
President Kenyatta held a meeting with county bosses at the Sagana State Lodge, in Kirinyaga County. The conference is scheduled to officially start on Tuesday, March 5 until Friday, March 8.
Uhuru, who is committed to the implementation of the Big Four Agenda, is expected to officially open the conference. During the meeting, Uhuru called upon the county bosses to support devolution.
The President raised concern over various issues including the persistent nurses’ strike, and urged the council of governors under the chairmanship of Wycliffe Oparanya to avert the strike as soon as possible to enable the tax payers enjoy services from health facilities across the nation.
He also reminded the governors to ensure a stern action is taken against nurses who defied his directive to return to work.
The conference will address different key issues including universal health coverage as well as the Big Four Agenda.
The conference comes at a time when the president has declared war on corruption in the country.
President Kenyatta who is completing his second and final term in office, is putting in place measures to curb graft amid pressure from his allies.
