Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku has termed the ongoing Mau eviction exercise as key in the reclamation of the water tower.
Speaking in Nakuru on Saturday during an alumni meeting at Nakuru High school, Lenku said the reclamation of Mau forest has nothing to do with the tribal inclination and that all Kenyans must support the move in order to save the natural resource.
“The government which I am so passionate about has made it clear that people must leave Mau and therefore it is so shameful for leaders to protect their communities at the expense of Mau,” said Lenku.
The Kajiado Governor said the law must be followed and that institutions mandated to protect water catchment areas and other natural resources should do so.
“We must follow the law and the water towers must be protected. I also want to appeal to the institutions mandated with the protection of such to do what is required of them,” said Lenku.
