Parents in Nyamira County whose children will be found loitering during this long December Holiday shall be prosecuted, Nyamira County Commissioner Isaiah Nakoru has said.
Nakoru said parents who will neglect their duties must face the law.
"Parents should ensure their children are not loitering in the villages during this long December Holiday. Any child found hanging around will have to name his or her parent for arrests to be made," he said.
Nakoru reiterated that parents should not take the warning lightly because the children's welfare during the long holiday must be given a top priority.
According to the county security boss, children if allowed to loiter crime cases may be at the peak.
"Theft, illicit sex among teenagers and minors attending night discos may be on the rise if parents allows their children to loiter around. Police will be more vigilant to curb such cases from happening," Nakoru said.
He said now that schools are closed, that doesn't mean children to be loitering in deep villages.
"We are working hard to ensure no school girl ventures into illicit sex trade over the December holiday," he added.
