Detectives have now spread their nets to neighbouring Tanzania and Uganda in search of the three suspects they believe might have crossed the border to evade arrest.

The three are also suspected to have been part of the team that abducted Sharon and Nation reporter Barrack Oduor in Rongo, Migori County before her lifeless body was retrieved in a thicket near Oyugis Town, Homabay County.

Confirming the broadened search, Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti added that the detectives are collaborating with their colleagues across the borders, maintaining that justice must prevail.

''It is true we have extended the search to Uganda and Tanzania,” he told the Nation on Wednesday morning.

“What I can say is that they won’t have any place to hide. We are on their trail. They can run, but they can’t hide forever," he is further quoted.

The detectives believe that the trio was hit-men squad deployed to eliminate Sharon who was buried in Magare Village, Homabay County on Friday last week.

According to DCI Head of Investigations John Kariuki, the public should not expect any more revelations, cautioning that the same could sabotage the search.

“Investigations are still ongoing but we haven’t arrested them. Expect arrests very soon, but we can’t divulge details now because some of these things are prejudicial, and we can’t go anywhere if they are revealed,” he is quoted.

This comes at a time when the prime suspect in the case, Migori Governor Okoth Obado has since been released after High Court Judge Jessie Lesiit on Wednesday granted his bail application.

Still in detention over the same in line with the same are Obado's associates Caspal Obiero and Michael Oyamo.
