A video of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko shopping in Dubai has surfaced online, and indeed it is making rounds on social media.
Most Nairobians and all Kenyans at large know it is a normal thing for Sonko to share videos, this one has never been posted on his social media platforms.
In the video, Sonko enters one of the cosmetic & jewellery shops and orders for big chains made of Diamond and Gold.
He reveals that he was shopping for his lovely wife back in Kenya. He is allowed to take pictures and video record everything as it unfolded.
Though the video does not indicate the exact time it was recorded, Sonko went ahead to pay about Sh5 million for the Versace neckpieces that were offered to him.
"I want bigger chains with Diamonds, am sending the pictures to my wife to choose, am a fan of gold and Versace. Ni mita tano bana, na wakenya wananunua, (It is about Sh5 million and Kenyans afford to buy this)," he said.
After the shop attendant women said the governor had never bought from her shop before, he confirmed to her that he was indeed going to buy from her.
After converting the foreign currency to Kenyan currency Sonko went ahead and paid the Ksh4.3 million in cash, counting from one up to the said amount.
