Speaking in Subukia on Thursday when he officially launched the Subukia Innovation Hub, the governor said his government is committed towards  youth empowerment.

“I urge the youths to make good use of the internet and avoid abuses. The internet can help you earn a living. As a government we are committed in ensuring youths empowerment,” he said.

The sentiments were echoed by Nakuru County CEC for Education and ICT Raymond Komen.

“The youths of Nakuru county have no reason to complain as the county is incorporating them in all departments. We look forward to open similar hubs in Naivasha and Bondeni in Nakuru East,”said Komen.

This is the second hub to be launched in the County after one was opened in Kuresoi South.

According to Komen, youths have numerous opportunities as most businesses are currently being conducted online.

Gladys Muthoni Kamau and Francis Kibe are instructors at the Subukia Innovation hub and they categorically state that the hub is paramount in shaping the lives of young people who are interested in internet and technology.

“We have around 83 youths who have been trained here and some have already opened up businesses,” Kibe said.

Some of the youths who have received training from the Subukia Innovation Hub are optimistic that they will impact positively in the society.

“We are very grateful for the support from county government. We call on our fellow youths to ensure they come and join this hubs for the trainings," Anita Kaheia said.

The county government is facilitating the internet as well as finances for the one month youths training at the hubs.
