Luos are great people to many, and their men considered the most romantic nationally by others.
However, just like men from other communities, Luo men have their own preferences and qualifications that advise them on whether to promote their girlfriends to wives.
In an exclusive interview with a section of Luo men, the main thing that keeps them attached to a woman, apart from love, is her cooking ability.
According to Robinson Okombe, a Bachelor of Arts in Communication student at St Paul's University, a woman who cannot cook good food, especially Ugali or fish, is not the right for him.
"If a woman cannot cook good ugali or is putting too much soup or salt in fish and other foods automatically switches me off, watery rice is another issue," he said.
But according to Moses Buke, a wife, whether a fellow Luo or not, must be willing to adopt the Luo culture or otherwise it will be pointless marrying her.
"As Luos we have some unique and inevitable operations in the village like cooking on the three stones, if a woman cannot operate under such situations then it will be a shameful ordeal when I take her to the village," he said.
On the other hand, Owino Obondi was of the opinion that the best wife in this part of the world is one who can easily relate with her in-laws and relatives from the husband's side.
"I wouldn't want to bring someone home and spend the rest of my life solving disputes between her and my family, a good wife relates well with her people," he said.
