Health Permanent Secretary Peter Tum has given the latest finding on the contraband sugar nabbed.
According to Tum, 60 percent of the imported sugar tested has been found unfit for human consumption.
Speaking on Tuesday during the Parliamentary Committee probing the entry of contraband sugar into the country.
He stated that they had so far tested 172 samples and that testing was still ongoing.
Tum added that the Ministry of Health has already written letters to county governments demanding for the unfit sugar to be destroyed.
“Sugar from Nairobi, Nakuru, Kiambu among others failed the test,” said Tum.
However, Tum did not name the people behind the contraband sugar.
