Kibra MP Ken Okoth is reportedly 'disturbed' with news about his own 'death' following social media reports that's he had succumbed to cancer, ODM party has confirmed.
For the better part of Tuesday morning, social media users paid their tributes to Mr Okoth with some hailing him as the best legislator in the modern times.
But according to a tweet from the Orange party, the MP, who is still undergoing treatment at a Paris hospital, asked Kenyans not to kill him before his time on earth.
"Fellow Kenyans, the Hon. @okothkenneth is alive and kicking. As he recovers from his ailment in the hospital in Paris, he feels disturbed by the unprofounded rumours doing rounds on his life. We urge Kenyans and particularly those on social media to avoid spreading such rumours," read the tweet.
The party's communication director Philip Etale said the second term MP is recovering well, adding that it's true he was disturbed after receiving news about his own death on internet.
"Fellow Kenyans, the Hon. @okothkenneth is recovering from his ailment and feels disturbed with the rumours and propaganda bring spread about his life. Here is his text to me "I'm alive and kicking. Folks should stop killing me before my time with rumours". Respect please," Etale said.
In the 12th parliament, three legislators have already succumbed to cancer. They include Grace Kipchoim of Baringo South, Ben Oluoch of Migori and former Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze.
Mr Okoth recently came to public about his struggles with stage four cancer, a statement that shocked the country. An online campaign dubbed #WeShallOvercome surfaced in solidarity with him.
