After urging President Uhuru Kenyatta to initiate more projects in Nyanza, a section of Luo elders are now igniting 2022 succession debate.
On Thursday, the elders led by Owino Nyady, challenged Uhuru to back Raila Odinga's 2022 presidential bid.
“The implementation of the nine-point agenda agreed on by the two leaders (Mr Odinga and President Kenyatta) can only be fully implemented by themselves.
"If President Kenyatta retires in 2022, then Mr Odinga, as the cosignatory to the March 9 deal, will be the best placed person to effect the resolutions,” he said.
While Uhuru has remained mum about succession politics, Raila on the other hand has dodged the same debate despite his allies pushing for his candidature.
At an interview with Citizen TV recently, Raila insisted that he was not willing to discuss 2022 politics.
"I will only speak about 2022 when we are through with 2017 issues. It is quite unnecessary."
Politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto insist that Raila is hiding in handshake with Uhuru to campaign ahead of 2022.
