A planned keynote address by Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria in the United States of America has been cancelled.
The high profile meeting between Kuria and Kenyans living in the US scheduled for Sunday, September 2, 2018, was suspended following the death of Susan Wambui Kimani, who was to host the event.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the MP described Wambui as a 'highly respected leader of the Kenyan community in the Diaspora'.
He said a memorial service in honour of the deceased will be held instead of the much-publicised address.
"As a result, this meeting has been cancelled in respect of Madam Susan and to give an opportunity for the Kenyan family in Boston and Hon Moses Kuria to attend this important service. Any inconvenience caused is highly regretted," read a statement sent from the US.
The memorial service will be held at PCEA Neema Church, 201 Coburn St, Lowell, MA 01850 at 3pm.
Among the issues Kuria had planned to address was his journey of life, challenges and opportunities for Kenyans in the diaspora and his proposed Coffee Bill 2018.
Others were the Big 4, the March 9 handshake, current Kenyan political situation and diaspora social responsibility as a new alternative to community social responsibility.
