Mandago said the varsity remains undeveloped despite being the second-best university in Kenya, unlike the Kenyatta University which he compared it's development to some of the institutions in London.

"If you talk about Kenyatta University, it was given excessive funding when Francis Muthaura was the head of Public Service. Why was Moi University not given the funding being the second best?" Mandago said.

He spoke at a burial ceremony in Kibabet village, Uasin Gishu County on Friday.

Mandago urged Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi who also attended the same function to help him engage Finance Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich so as to allocate more funds towards developing the institution.

"This January, Honourable Sudi, we must see CS Rotich. He can't be seated neglecting home university," Mandago said.

He challenged civil servants deployed by the national government in the county to effectively execute their duties for the locals' best interests.

"MP Sudi, tell both Education Chairman Julius Melly and Kipkelion MP Hillary Kosgei who doubles as chairman of the budget to allocate funds to Moi University," Mandago told Sudi.
