Deputy President William Ruto has received backing in his 2022 ambitions from Baringo county, the home ground of Senator Gideon Moi.
Moi is among those who have expressed interest to run for president in 2022.
Leaders allied to Ruto in the Rift Valley, however, see the move as a spoil for Ruto.
Speaking on Friday when the DP toured the region, leaders expressed confidence in him and vowed to give him full support when 2022 comes.
In an apparent reference to Senator Gideon Moi, Former Tiaty MP Asman Kamama said any other politician in the Rift Valley who wants to run for the top seat should shelve his or her ambitions.
“We started this journey long time ago and we have banked on Ruto to be our next President. Other people from Rift Valley who are eyeing presidency should forego the decision and support the Deputy President,” Kamama said.
Ruto commissioned the construction of the Oinobmoi-Barwessa Road and attended the opening of boreholes funded by JICA.
The DP was accompanied by his wife Rachael Ruto.
