Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni wa Muchomba has said MPs received bribes in the toilets at Parliament to shoot down a sugar report.
While speaking in her constituency on Tuesday, wa Muchomba said those who refused to take the bribe were insulted.
“They were telling us that money is not our mother’s [sic] and that we were being too arrogant. They went to the toilets and corridors to dish out the cash,” the County MP said.
The move was said to enable them to avoid the CCTVs within the precincts of parliament.
Her remarks gave credence to claims that MPs were bribed with Sh10, 000 each to shoot down the report and protect two Cabinet Secretaries who had been fingered for investigation.
The report has attracted public attention after the bribery claims surfaced.
A weekly newspaper published a list of 150 MPs who allegedly received the bribe.
Naivasha MP Jane Kihara has also confessed to being approached with the bribe.
Speaking in her constituency, Kihara said an MP from Nakuru approached her with the cash and told her there were directions that the report is thrown out.
Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi has been accused by Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa of being the chief architect in the bribing squad.
She has however denied the claims.
