After defying all odds to win the Migori gubernatorial seat during the 2013, Okoth Obado was not going to have an easy time to run the county which is a key ODM and Raila Odinga stronghold.
April 27, 2014, was the day that the frosty relationship between Obado and ODM was tested as the Governor fought with Siaya Senator James Orengo over the microphone during the funeral of the wife to former Migori MP Owino Likowa.
It was Orengo who stirred the hornet's nest when he asked Migori residents to elect an ODM governor in case the Supreme declares the seat vacant.
However, the statement never went well with Obado who swiftly rose up and walked towards the dais trying to snatch the microphone from Orengo who was firing the salvos.
All hell broke lose as ODM and Obado's supporters started throwing stones and chairs at each other causing the funeral service to be stopped temporarily amid the ensuing orchestra of chaos.
For Orengo, ODM supporters had to whisk him to a safer place. But 30 minutes later, the event resumed after order had been restored.
