The county security boss, while speaking on Monday during during a security meeting in Nyamira County, said cattle theft must end.

"It is sad that despite Matiang'i working in government, still some people are bringing shame to him by stealing cattle. I'm appealing to members of the public engaging in criminal activities to stop," he said.

According to Mariba, he will not condone cattle rustlers to continue stealing people's cattle.

"Nyamira people are entitled to be protected by the law with their property. Cattle rustlers who are out to steal so that they can taint Matiang'i's name at the national level won't be tolerated anymore," said the commissioner.

Mariba challenged locals to report anyone they suspect is among the cattle thieves in the region.

"My appeal to residents is that they should report to police anyone they suspect is colluding with criminals to steal cattle. We have intensified patrols to flush out criminals," he added.
