English Premier League (KPL) side Everton will make a trip to Nairobi to take on Kariobangi Sharks in the initial 2019 pre-season match.
According to Everton's website, the match will be played on Sunday, July 7th at the Kasarani Stadium, Nairobi.
Kariobangi Sharks secured the game after winning the 2019 SportPesa Cup in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, in January.
Their 1-0 win over Bandari allowed them the territorial championship and the chance to play the EPL side. The match against Sharks marks Everton's second visit to East Africa.
The Toffees ventured out to Tanzania in July 2017 to face debut SportPesa Super Cup champions Gor Mahia where they won 2-1.
It was the first an English Premier League club had visited East Africa.
In November 2018, K'Ogalo visited Goodison Park, the first time an east African club had played a Premier League club in the UK.
Alan McTavish, Commercial Director at Everton Football Club, said: “We are extremely excited to be heading back to Africa to play against the Kariobangi Sharks FC. We were given an exceptionally warm welcome when we played in Tanzania in 2017 and are looking forward to visiting Kenya and what we know will be a fantastic experience in the Kasarani Stadium."
