Speaking on Saturday, the former Subukia lawmaker accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto of showing indifference as the situation worsens.

He bashed Uhuru who was is on an official trip in Namibia, questioning how he could comfortably visit another nation while his people suffer back home.

"Its rather disturbing that our president can leave for a foreign country wile his subjects are suffering and starving back home and not feel guilty," he said.

The former Assistant Cabinet Minister and longest serving political detainee was speaking on Sauti Ya Mwananchi's Cheche show Saturday evening.

He also took issue with Ruto for appearing undisturbed, urging him to put aside his fundraising trips and lead other government agencies deployed to address the issue.

"Let our leaders led by the Deputy President halt their fundraisers for a moment and at least help in addressing this matter. Let them head to the ground and help out," he added.

The remarks came only hours after Ruto led his allies to another fundraiser in Mandera county, at a time when 13 counties are reportedly grappling with the famine.
