A few days ago, much to the chagrin of most Kenyans, yet another woman resurfaced claiming to be the mother of Joseph Kori’s child.

Kori’s infamy rose barely a month ago when he was allegedly linked to the murder of his wife alongside his other lover Judy Wambui Mungai.

Since then, two more women have emerged claiming to have been married to Kori, bringing the total number of women in Kori’s life to 4, further complicating the puzzle.

The story of the 41-year old businessman who until a few weeks ago was unknown to most Kenyans seems to be far from over as every time the dust is about to settle, another woman surfaces claiming to have had a baby with Kori.

Unfortunately, their marriages had to hit rock-bottom so badly that Kori always took the easy way out – abandoning and neglecting them.

This leaves one wondering, how many wives and children can one successful businessman who started at the bottom possibly have?

In these turn of events, they all claim to know someone whose fate is in the mercies of the court and their revelation could possibly incriminate them since their relationship could be the grounds for motive.

As is the norm, whenever a man of means kicks the bucket, one or more women appear from God knows where claiming to have been married to the deceased perhaps in a bid to get a share of the estate.

Nonetheless, the clarion call here is for men to take remedial action to avert such intricate cases.

Transparency and honesty in marriage are paramount.

Whether or not these women’s cases are legitimate, it’s the responsibility of men to either take full responsibility of the children they sire even out of wedlock or refrain altogether, from leaving a trail of illegitimate children.

These children bear the brunt of their parents’ ill-advised decisions reducing them to mere ‘collateral damage’.
