National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has received praises from Kenyans after he committed himself to pay the entire school fees of a needy student.
Kenyans online thanked Duale for his kind gesture and urged him to continue helping other needy and bright students.
Some Kenyans, however, asked Duale why he would post online his good deeds while others said he should post what he does to encourage other leaders to emulate him.
Mr Duale met the boy from Masalani village, Garissa County together with his parents and promised to pay the school fees during his four years in secondary school.
The boy, Mohamed Abdilatiff, sat his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations this year and scored 390 marks.
“Fulfilled my promise where I signed a cheque of Sh216,000 to sponsor Mohamed Abdilatiff a student from Masalani village, Garissa County. The boy scored 390 marks in the 2018 KCPE but was unable to join high school due to lack of school fees,” said Mr Duale on facebook.
The Garissa Township MP presented the cheque to the boy’s father saying the boy will uplift his family and contribute to the growth of the society after completing Form Four.
“Pleased to empower Mohamed Abdifatah Sheikh from Masalani, Garissa County to realise his undoubted potential, uplift his family and contribute meaningfully to society. He scored 390 marks in KCPE and will join Nairobi School without his parents worrying about school fees,” added Mr Duale.
