A governor linked to a high profile attempted assassination of former CEC has finally spoken amid reports that he had been arrested by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Friday.
Governor Ali Korane has trashed the news being spread on social media on his arrest, saying he was a free man.
Issuing a statement via Garissa County Government Press Unit, which is the county's official social media page, governor's press unit stated the misinformation is meant to divide the peace-loving people of his county.
"Our attention has been drawn to malicious reports circulating in social media that are calculated to divide the peace-loving people of Garissa by creating fear and unnecessary anxiety. This is to confirm that the Governor H.E. Ali Korane was today (Friday) with his Mandera counterpart His excellency Ali Roba and some leaders from Isiolo County for regional peace and development talks. His Excellency Ali Bunow Korane will tomorrow (Saturday) be with his Isiolo counterpart to discuss cross-border peace talks. This evening, H.E. the Governor arrived in Nanyuki town ready to attend the meeting in Isiolo tomorrow morning," read the update.
The report emerges even as the office of the DPP recently confirmed that investigations were on final stages and that the individuals linked with the shooting incident would not be spared.
