Speaking on Saturday evening, the Nakuru-based commentator claimed that the terrorists carefully settled on the hotel with a clear goal in mind.

Judging by the hotel's global appeal and placement near several embassies, he said, the Al Shabaab terror group wanted to hit many countries with a single blow.

"This is an international hotel serving people from across the world. The terrorists' plan was apparently to include as many nations as possible in the attack," he said.

Njui was speaking on Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi's 'Cheche Show', Saturday evening.

He termed Al-Shabaab a group out to disrupt peace in other countries, especially those neighbouring Somalia, after succeeding in paralyzing operations in the country.

"The group has destroyed Somalia and is now out to do the same in other parts of the world. It has no course mission to achieve but destruction," he added.

The Tuesday attack, according to police reports, was conducted by five militants, one of whom blew himself up minutes before his colleagues took over the seven storey building.

However, the group had been neutralized by the elite recce squad by early the next day.

The attack left 21 innocent civilians killed and scores injured, some of whom have been treated in several city hospitals and discharged.
