Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Boss Shollei has spoken on Chief Justice David Maraga's outburst.
She says Maraga could have taken his issue to the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee and budget committee instead of raising them in public.
Shollei said the media was not a good avenue to air his frustrations after the Treasury cut the Judiciary's budget.
“Chief Justice has a valid point but he could have aired it to the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee and Budget Committee instead of having a press conference,” she said in Eldoret.
“The Treasury cut the budget on domestic and international travel for everyone but domestic travel in the judiciary is unique since it relates to court operations, therefore, there was a need for the Chief Justice and Chief Registrar to air their view on relevant bodies for help,” she added.
She cited that if the court wants to put a five judge-bench in Eldoret, judges from different parts of the country are picked and fly via a budget under domestic travel.
Maraga on Monday while addressing the press said Judiciary’s operations have been negatively affected by budgetary cuts.
