Speaking to mourners at the All Saints' Cathedral on Thursday, the DP recounted how Joyce Laboso expressed concerns to him about her opponents using her husband's tribe as fodder.

She had been asked to run for the Sotik Parliamentary seat after the death of her sister Lorna Laboso in a fatal plane crash.

DP Ruto asked her not to worry as they would counter the prospect of propaganda with a wittily crafted message that would only mention who her father was and not who husband was.

"I told her JOyce we will craft a message to deal with that and we will insist that you are the daugter of Mr Laboso. Please ask Edwin not to mind if we do not put his name in our arrangement, " the deputy president said

DP Ruto described Abonyo as a "super human being" for not taking issue with the arrangement.

The late Bomet governor was married from outside his community.

Dr Edwin Abonyo is a Luo who hails from Koru in Kisumu where his wife is expected to be laid to rest.
