Kenya is among the many countries that have welcomed Chinese investors with both hands. Chinese investors in the country have carried out major constructions including the Thika Super Highway and the Standard Gauge Railway.
Apart from these contractors and other investors, other Chinese nationals are in Kenya partaking various businesses. They have spread all over the country carrying out various activities.
However, some of them have been reported to have done crazy things in the country. Some of these things have been greatly condemned by Kenyan leaders.
Here are the top 5 crazy things the Chinese in Kenya have done:
1. Insulting Kenyans and President Uhuru
Last month, a Chinese national Liu Jiaqi was recorded on camera insulting Kenyans and President Uhuru Kenyatta. He called Kenyans poor and untidy people. He went ahead to call Kenyans and President Uhuru monkeys.
2. Commercial sex workers
More than 15 Chinese sex workers were arrested in Nairobi. The suspects were arrested for engaging in commercial sex and also running several brothels in Nairobi’s South C estate.
3. Hooliganism
A photo of a Chinese man chasing a Kenyan with a machete went viral on the social media last week. Fortunately, the Kenyan was fast not to be found by the angry Chinese.
4. Putting up a billboard with Chinese writings
It is interesting how the Chinese will put up Billboards in Kenya in the Chinese language when a handful Kenyans understand their language. One advert was spotted along Mombasa road in Nairobi.
5. Corporal punishment for SGR workers
Chinese contracts were reportedly harassing Kenyan workers on the SGR. Sadly, they could be canned, kicked or even thrown out like dogs. Some of them were even relegated from their jobs to lesser jobs in the train.
