The government has imposed a dawn to dusk curfew in Ol-Pusimoru area Narok county following the inter-community clashes that have begun spreading towards Olenguruone.
Making the announcement on Tuesday after assessing the situation, Rift Valley regional coordinator Mwongo Chimwanga said security has been beefed up.
During the curfew, Mwongo added that individuals found carrying any weapon will be dealt with according to the law.
“Between 6pm and 6 am we don’t want to see anybody move to or from any direction. We will also not allow anyone to carry any kind of weapon. From there we will do general assessment of the situation before the next step,” said Chimwanga.
The RC said there are people spreading alarmist information.
“The challenge we have faced is that both the two communities have made phone calls to their relatives in other neighboring counties and are coming in with a notion that their people are being attacked but that is not the case. We want to do patrols on the roads to know who is ferrying who and also meet the two communities to explain to them that those were just rumors so that they can restore peace,” said Chimwanga.
