Kathiani Member of Parliament Robert Mbui has urged Governor Dr Alfred Mutua to halt his 'unnecessary' trips to other counties and instead focus on developing Machakos.
Mbui argued that it is too early for the governor to be making trips trying to woo other communities to vote for him in 2022 when there is still work that needs to be done in Machakos.
"I have been saying this and I will repeat it, Governor Mutua needs to stop the unnecessary trips to other counties. We have seen him do some development outside Machakos in a bid to create a name for himself," said Mbui.
Speaking on Saturday during an interview on Mbaitu FM, the lawmaker opined that the governor is wasting money and time that needs to be spent in Machakos, adding that Mutua should wait until his term is over to start his campaigns.
"We should not hear he is in Kisii, Nyeri, Nyamira and other places commissioning projects that are not even in Machakos. He should first finish his term then proceed to campaign for his 2022 presidential bid," said Mbui.
"He is the governor for Machakos and he was elected to serve Machakos, not other counties. He is failing Machakos people who voted for him," he added.
He urged other leaders to shun premature 2022 campaigns and focus on delivering their promises to the people.
