Nakuru County Senator Susan Kihika has condemned those inciting residents to violence in Olposimoru on the Narok-Nakuru border.
The senator has also said elected leaders responsible for inciting and funding the clashes should be arrested.
“In the strongest words, I condemn those inciting and funding the inter-tribal uprisings. Kenyans are peace-loving people. They have lived together for many years without turning against each other. Let whoever is responsible be made to answer for all the losses that have been experienced,” Kihika said.
Earlier, the Senator had made a statement on the floor of the Senate that is holding its sittings in Uasin Gishu where she condemned the violence and also called on the DPP to arrest political leaders inciting residents.
The violence in Olposimoru was ostensibly triggered when rustlers stole cows from Nakuru county last Sunday.
The vocal senator said there is a need for the government to go for warmongers involved.
“Whatever is happening in Olposimoru should never have happened. Even as we look for the root causes of the regrettable skirmishes, we can't escape the fact that some elected leaders have played a part in fuelling the clashes,” she added.
Kihika regretted that children and women have been put on the path of war which leaves them with scars.
“When there is war, the elderly, women and children bear the blunt. Development becomes stagnated, learning in schools comes to a halt, and our young men lose lives or suffer injury,” she said.
