A middle aged man was on Friday evening arrested for allegedly dragging a 5-year-old minor into his house where he defiled her.
The incident happened in Ogango village, Manga in Nyamira County.
Confirming the incident, area chief Evans Nyang'au said the suspect Justine Obare, found the minor returning home from school when he dragged her into his house.
"Obare forced the minor into his house where he undressed her and defiled her several times," said the chief.
Nyang'au said the suspect after the heinous act he gave the minor Sh20 so that she can buy sweets.
He said the minor's parents upon questioning her why she was unable to walk, the minor narrated what Obare had done to her.
"The victim's parents reported the matter to my office and immediately I sent community policing officers to apprehend the suspect. The minor was rushed to Manga hospital where it was discovered that the suspect had defiled her," he said.
The chief said he surrendered the suspect to Sengera Manga police station.
"Obare will be taken to court on Monday to be charged over defilement," he added.
