Amani National Congress (ANC) Party leader, Musalia Mudavadi has hard his say concerning Willy Paul’s current controversial shows.
Speaking to Radio Citizen, the ANC leader argued Kenya’s gospel top artist Willy Paul to rethink about his stunts during shows.
“I have just heard the name Willy Paul, but I have never heard him singing,” he said.
“He [Willy Paul] and other musicians should not distort the gospel at all. It is important that they find their ways of attracting audiences and captivating them. However, they shouldn’t try and compete with the people [secular musicians], who have a completely different calling. They need to rethink so that they are not doing anything that is completely off,” said Mudavadi.
The former vice president and deputy prime minister came out days after Willy Paul and Nandy’s controversial performances at KICC in Nairobi and later on at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Sumbawanga, Tanzania.
The two displayed a “raunchy” performance which has put them under great critics from online users.
According to Mudavadi, Willy Paul should understand that he is a gospel artist and should stop competing with secular artists for fame, money and popularity.
He joked that he has heard about Willy Paul more than he has heard about his music.
