As the war on corruption continues taking shape, the 2022 succession politics are likely to cause sharp ideological divisions between the country's top leaders and their supporters.
Speaking on NTV Sasa hosted by Salim Swaleh on Monday, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa - a loyal supporter of DP William Ruto - asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to distance himself from matters Parliament.
The Kimilili MP said that Uhuru should keep off on matters touching the National Assembly because he is the leader of the Executive.
"Rais hana mamlaka yoyote kuambia wabunge kenye watafanya.Tuko na jukumu tulilopewa na Wananchi na wala sio Yeye (The President has no obligation to direct MPs on what to do. We have been mandated by the people of Kenya and that's what we are doing)," said Baraza
He further added that the war on corruption should not be waged against DP Ruto since he is not the only person doing business.
Barasa further questioned why a section of politicians always attack the DP on flimsy grounds about his source of wealth.
