Detectives have arrested one more suspects in connection to Sharon Otieno's murder, reports The Standard.
Mr. Grado Ochollah, an employee of Migori County, was arrested on Friday before being ferried to Nairobi on Monday after being adversely mentioned by witnesses as the person who hired a taxi that was used by abductors or slain Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.
Kiambu Chief Magistrate Patricia Gichuhi remanded the suspect for ten days to allow investigators to collect further evidence that will be used for prosecution. https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/article/2001300831/obado-back-to-office-another-suspect-held-in-death-probe.
Lead investigator Clement Mwangi said the suspect is a close ally of Caspal Obiero, the owner of the Toyota Fielder that was used in abduction, adding that his arrest will add more leads that are required in the case.
“The suspect is connected to other suspects who are yet to be arrested. Thus, there is a likelihood he will interfere with investigations if released. Justice for the victims and their families cannot be attained when the suspect is free,” he said.
Already, Mr. Obiero and another aide to Governor Okoth Obado, Mr. Michael Oyamo, are awaiting trial over the gruesome murder which kicks off in May 2019.
Governor Obado, who was also linked to the murder, managed to secure bail last week but will return to court to face murder charges.
The taxi driver Jackson Gombe was admitted as state witness after conceding that he was the one driving the vehicle at the time of the incidence.
