The KTN journalist, Hamza Bin Yusuf, had accused the Garissa Township MP of harassing and threatening him.

In March, 2017, Mr Yusuf who is based in Garissa County said that Mr Duale had threatened him in public by telling him, “Nitakulima sababu mimi ni serikali” which translates to, “I will deal with you because I am the government”.

Mr Duale, who also happens to be his uncle, directed the message as a warning to his media coverage, saying he should 'know people' and never cover all that transpires in the area.

Mr Yusuf who claims to be Mr Duale’s nephew took to Facebook to tell the MP that despite their family ties, he was still a journalist committed to covering Garissa politics fairly.

Mr Yusuf was among reporters who had attended a media conference held by the majority leader to unveil Garissa County Jubilee aspirants in Masalani, Ijara Constituency.

According to Mr Yusuf, he has been giving balanced coverage to both the opposition and the ruling party politicians, a move that seems to have angered the majority leader.

“I am now keeping a low profile, fearing for my life but this will not stop me from providing fair and balanced coverage to all politicians in the run up to the elections,” said the journalist as quoted by nation.co.ke.
